Converse and CLOT will issue a special release One Star sneaker to celebrate the alignment of CLOT’s Fall 2017 collection inspired by serenity. Collaborative partners since 2012, the new collection by CLOT founders, Edison Chen and Kevin Poon, cements the longstanding relationship between both brands.
Since its debut in 2003, Edison Chen and Kevin Poon have established CLOT as one of the foremost names in global streetwear culture. With a retail base that stretches throughout Asia to Los Angeles, CLOT is known for bridging the gap between East and West. This special edition of the Converse One Star sneaker hones in on the brand’s mission to creatively merge these two cultures. The Converse x CLOT One Star sneaker is an homage to all things Tai Chi and as well as the icon’s roots in popular culture via basketball, music and skate.
Similar to a balanced yin and yang, the shoe’s black upper and white outer collar in hairy suede mirrors the zen Chinese symbols for serenity imprinted on the shoe’s insole and outer sole. Printed on both sides of the inner foxing is a quote of Confucian wisdom in Mandarin and its equal English translation.
The shoes are housed in premium packaging with an ode to traditional martial arts with illustrations scrawled on top of a diagram of Tai Chi movements on the box lid. Also included, is a contrasting pair of cotton laces in Vanilla and Black.
The new Converse x CLOT One Star launches at Converse retail stores, third-party retailers and on Converse.com on Thursday, September 14, 2017. The sneakers will retail for a suggested price of $110.
