Arizona State University and adidas today unveiled the Sun Devils’ new Primeknit football uniforms for the 2015 season. Developed in collaboration with Sun Devil Athletics, the new uniforms are at the forefront of design and innovation, providing players with the perfect blend of style and technology for elite performance.
Inspired by the team’s pitchfork logo, the Sun Devils’ new look amplifies the team’s iconic identity. At the center of the theme, the pitchfork logo is prominently showcased on the helmet and pants, while the shoulder pad design pays homage to the logo by incorporating a pitchfork spike theme into the stripes. Additionally, ‘Arizona State’ is highlighted in bold, metallic colors across the chest and accented with matching numbers and player names to create a signature look. Providing form and function, the metallic letters and numbers are created from a stretch material and serrated, allowing for maximum ventilation and flexibility.
“Our partnership with adidas and the uniforms they created for our program are game changers for Sun Devil Football and Arizona State. We pride ourselves on our speed and intensity on the field, and the technology behind these uniforms will allow us to maximize these strengths. They have a look that appeals to all of our fans, from the young Devils playing peewee football to our longtime season-ticket holders, and there are components that pay homage to community, show respect for our past, and honor the proud tradition of Arizona State University and our Sun Devil Football program,” Arizona State head football coach Todd Graham said.
Made with a cutting-edge, proprietary yarn blend that increases durability and abrasion resistance, Primeknit is the premier compression uniform system, featuring the latest generation of adidas TECHFIT technology. Primeknit helps keep players cool and increases range of motion, giving athletes an unrivaled level of comfort and allowing them to perform at their highest levels. The jersey’s padlock system secures tension over the shoulder pads, while the bodymap fit adheres to the player, making it difficult for opponents to grab, hold or tackle.
Arizona State will debut their new uninforms on Saturday, September 5th when the Sun Devils take on Texas A&M at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. With three interchangeable jerseys, four interchangeable pants, and three helmet options, the Sun Devils will have the opportunity to create a variety of different color combinations and looks throughout the season.
After every win, a Sun Devil player uses the team hammer to crush a rock as part of the locker room celebration, and the team’s TECHFIT Gun Show baselayer pays tribute to this tradition with the mantra “Break the Rock” displayed across the chest. Rounding out the new look are custom adizero 5-Star 4.0 cleats and the adizero 5-Star 4.0 gloves featuring the pitchfork logo.
The adizero 5-Star 4.0, lighter than any competitor cleat at 8.0 ounces, has a SPRINTSKIN upper with SHOCKWEB reinforcement and a 5-Star frame plate that provides maximum acceleration and multi-directional traction, while the adizero 5-Star 4.0 gloves, feature 4-way stretch mesh for compression fit and GripTack 2.0 for consistent control in all weather conditions.
