Battle Of The Sneaker Mascots : Mars Blackmon Vs Little Penny

“Mars Blackmon” was a fictional character from the 1986 film She’s Gotta Have It. He is also the alter-ego of filmmaker Spike Lee. In the film, he was a “Brooklyn-loving”, sports-loving, die-hard New York Knicks fan. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, “Mars Blackmon” became the primary pitchman in Nike commercials for Air Jordans, the basketball shoes worn by Michael Jordan. As of January 2011, Nike has resumed using the character for its Air Jordan “Spiz’ike” line of shoes.


“Lil Penny” was a fictional character/ Doll was voiced by comedian Chris Rock . He ‘s the miniature wise cracking Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway Clone.  During the late 1990′s Lil Penny was the sidekick in the classic Nike Commercials for the “Air Penny”
