Nike Festival Of Sports Shanghai

Flanked by Shanghai City Vice Mayor Zhao Wen and Li Yuyi, Head of Shanghai City Bureau of Athletics, Nike China Vice President Craig Cheek inaugurated the newly renovated Shanghai Stadium complex this morning with a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony. More importantly, the occasion marked the start of preparation leading up to Festival of Sports, by far the most comprehensive sporting event China has seen since the 2008 Summer Olympics. Yet, unlike the Olympics, Festival of Sports welcomes participation from the general public, making it unique among all the festivities this summer. Scheduled to take place from August 18th to August 21st, it will serves as a point of culmination for all athletes, including those who took part in Basketball tours, SB City Jam, and the China “Use Sport…” campaign. Participation to the Festival of Sports will comprise of LeBron James, Amare Stoudemire, Kyrie Irving, players from both Duke and Georgetown Universities, and local U19, U22, U25 basketball teams. In representing the skateboard segment, Paul Rodriguez will be joining Eric Koston, Shane O’NeillOmar Salazar and Theotis Beasley at the make shift skatepark on the grounds. Other sport disciplines to take place during the 4 day event include Nike Soccer, Nike Running, Nike Women, Nike Tennis, and even Nike Mixed Martial Arts. With itinerary this packed, the planners are expecting thousands of visitors during the first day alone.
